Add folder structure to Projects page

Personal view of this lack of feature

Over the years the list of projects on GitLab keeps organically growing. I do find myself going back to those previous projects quite a bit (for various reasons) but going through the list is quite a pain point as projects start mixing up together with no clear distinction.

Proposal

Adding Folders:

  • Easy to filter through unwanted projects.
  • Remove the necessity to explicitly add some prefix (or equivalent) to the project name.
  • Easier navigation.
  • Easy categorization.
  • Allow folder search in addition to project search.

Possible side-effects:

  • Link/HTTPS/SSH to project -> Personal opinion: Link does not need to reflect the actual path of the project. I would consider the folders to be purely for visual aid.

For who? Anybody who wishes to keep their projects well categorized

Thank you!
