Group - Issues closed analytic

Problem to solve

No Issues Closed analytics at the Group level.

Intended users

Who will use this feature? If known, include any of the following: types of users (e.g. Developer), personas, or specific company roles (e.g. Release Manager). It's okay to write "Unknown" and fill this field in later.

Personas are described at https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/marketing/product-marketing/roles-personas

Further details

Feedback received from a prospective client who has been evaluating Gitlab agile project management includes capabilities that would help them more insightfully identify trends associated with their projects and issues. Specifically, feedback received as follows:

"Issues closed analytics: The only analytic currently available is an Issues Opened. It would be nice to also have an Issues Closed analytic. Ideally what we're looking for is more of a milestone burndown chart, but at the group and/or project level rather than at a milestone level. Simply having an issues closed analytic chart would be a huge improvement though."

Although there is Insights at both the Group and Project levels, for Issues and MR's, this capability is only available to customers with Gold/Ultimate subscriptions. There needs to be Issue analytics at both the Group and Project levels where Program and Project Managers and perhaps DevOps Eng's can look at Issues created, Issues closed, burndown and burnup charts as it relates to Group and Project level Issues that would apply to customers with at least Silver/Premium subscriptions, as well as providing a framework from which customers can create their own analytics.

Proposal

At the group level, there is already an Issues Created analytic which you can navigate to from the Group level, Issues navigation tree. Within the same Issue Analytics display, add an Issues Closed chart in addition to the Issues Created chart similarly to what is currently available in the Group and Project level Insights charts. Below is a sample mockup showing the Issues closed chart within the Group level Issues Analytics.

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

The customers comment:

"Steve commented that issue reporting is still lackluster compared to others in the industry. We are looking for that burn-up chart, closed issues analytic, analytics at the project level, etc. I scanned your 12.6 features and don’t see a lot coming in a week and a half as far as reporting improvements."

What is the type of buyer?
