Description

Merge requests represent work that needs doing for a project (typically a code review). When you are working on half a dozen projects, you can lose track of which projects have outstanding merge requests.

Proposal

On project lists (any of the views under the projects tab), there is an indication of the state of the last pipeline, the number of people who have "starred" the project (although why that information is useful is beyond me), and the privacy of the project.

Add to these indicators one that shows that number of open merge requests for that project.

Use cases

Teams working on multiple gitlab projects. When viewing a list of their projects, can easily get an indication of which projects have outstanding merge requests that need to be progressed.
