Code-wise LGTM. I just left a concern about the target version, but if we're testing it properly, I guess we're good to go. Then two questions about QA.

@consideRatio started a discussion: (+1 comment) @hfyngvason I'll be on vacation without a computer between Dec 29th and Jan 13th. I can make a beta release happen before I leave of both JupyterHub and the JupyterHub helm chart. I've been pushing for a beta->stable release for a long time now.
I'll do my absolute best with my available time to make it happen, and I believe that will be enough! It is so motivating to know that you would benefit from it!
