git annex not uploading content

Dear all, I'm clearly aware that gitlab is deprecating git-annex, but I need to retrieve my data. Since some days ago, I'm not longer able to upload content, only symlinks. Is this the intended behaviour? Any thougths on this? Thanks in advance. Juan
