UI: "Box" all list and table information

Description

I am a big fan of the new GitLab navigation UI. Navigating through different pages now, I always feel a lack of UI polish and consistency whenever I see a list or table of information that has no outer UI box (CSS border, really) because the new outer navigation frame does this well. Examples are

• Project/Home: File view (the following Readme section does this nicely)
• Issues/List (also, Issue page)
• Repository/Commits

Another finding are the different definitions of a max content width across pages.

Proposal

I am aware that this takes major effort in UI and implementation to get details right, in context, for all existing pages. I want to promote to focus on this to enhance the GitLab UI to the same level the new navigation now provides (unmatched compared to any competitors in my perspective). I would be happy to support with finding all detail inconsistencies and ideate on improvements.

I know that there is at least one old issue discussing this issue but I could not find it. In context of the new navigation UI, I think it should be reconsidered anyway.
