Imported projects that have a .gitlab-ci.yml are not detected as having CI enabled

Description of the problem

I own this node-load-balancers repository on GitHub; when I import it to GitLab.com, the import is successful. But, that project already has a .gitlab-ci.yml file (yeah, I know, it's hosted on GitHub.com); since that project has a .gitlab-ci.yml in there, the Pipelines tab on GitLab should parse that file and start processing the pipelines. However, it doesn't detect this file upon import so no CI green tick, blue pause circle shows up. It's as if the repository doesn't have the .gitlab-ci.yml file.
