no authored votes on issues

If an author adds a new issue he cannot use the up- / downvote buttons on his own issues. Is there any particular reason to this behaviour as we got use cases where this function would be nice to use like for brain storming or tracking of ideas. The buttons are not even deactivated or something at all, the GUI is just not accepting the vote which is kind of a strange behaviour.

If this is intended, are there any plans to make this a option in configuration so a repo owner can enable this authored votes?
