Import from java.net
Oracle announced to shut down its own hosting service "java.net" (formerly known as "Project Kenai") hence many developers seek a new home. As an absolute insider leaked to me, many of projects currently move from java.net to GitHub. I am pretty sure that a substantial share would rather go with GitLab if there would be smart migration path. In fact, I'm on of those.
Hence I'd like to propose the addition of an "Migrate from java.net" functionality to the gitlab.com public cloud service.
What it has to do is primarily:
- Import svn via https using the script in "ProGit2" (take care of my latest commits: https://github.com/progit/progit2/blob/master/book/09-git-and-other-scms/sections/import-svn.asc).
- Import JIRA ticket history (there is a public HTTP API for that: https://docs.atlassian.com/jira/REST/latest/ which java.net users already access e. g. for Eclipse Team plugin).
- Import project web sites using a HTTP robot or by scanning the svn content (root folder www) and convert it to markdown.
I have already migrated my git project, but JIRA and the project web site is a real problem without a suitable script...
