Environment for usability testing
In the last UX team meeting, the team discussed the possibility of setting up a permanent environment for usability testing.
The reasons we want this are:
-
To ensure consistency when testing - we want users who are completing the same round of testing to use the same environment. GitLab.com frequently changes.
-
We want to be able to test with non GitLab users. Also, existing users may not want to share their projects, issues, etc with us for privacy reasons. Therefore, we need to use dummy project data. It would be great if we only have to set up this environment once and tweak it as required between each round of testing.
-
We want to be able to test features specific to EE.
-
We also want to test early concepts/prototypes with users to gauge feedback before releasing to a wider audience.
@dimitrieh suggested using: https://ngrok.com
@pedroms suggested our own UX environment on a subdomain (uxresearch.gitlab.com)
What's possible?
