Do not send notification emails during nights, weekends or holidays
Description
Receiving email notifications about issues, merge requests and todos instantly as they happen is a powerful feature.
However there is one use case where this can promote the wrong culture. We don't want to pressure colleagues in working or checking their emails at night or during their time off. We work hard, but when you want to calm your mind, sleep or spend quality time with your family, you should be able to stop notifications from popping on your phone from work. You can set this control on your phone but:
- doing it everyday (to stop to appear AT ALL at night) is unreasonable
- in some corporate environments, you don't have control over your phone at all
GitLab should promote the right way to work - and the right way to work, is to also take breaks, and let the work respect your time off.
Inspired by Basecamp and their work can wait feature.
Proposal
- Offer a feature to stop notifications from being sent outside "work hours".
- Once this period ends, GitLab would send all notifications that it wanted to send during this period.
