Making Product Data Driven

It's easier to be confident about decisions when you have solid data backing them up.

Description

We want to get a better understanding of usage of features new and old. For that we'll need raw statistics, but preferably also ways to easily query data, e.g. how many people that are using X, also use Y?

Proposals

• standardize on a way to get data about new feature usage, so that we can immediately measure on release. E.g. every new feature should have a path to call / a documented query
• introduce a statistics / reporting function (Product) that we can use for this purpose on GitLab.com
• improve the usage ping and version app to report about feature usage
