Merge request method on specific branch

Having the possibility to choose the branch to apply the merge request method could be a nice feature. Indeed there is some cases where the user want for example the master branch been a "merge commit method", but the development branch to be always on the top of the master branch (aka been a "rebase method").

Do you think it could be done ?
