Highlighting of "notifications" in activity stream

On a bigger project like this one the activity stream might easily be overwhelming. The situation gets even worse when having a look at the activity stream of all your projects!

To get a hold of this GitLab offers email notifications which are very powerful. But what happens if a GitLab instance is not configured with a SMTP server or I might just not have access to my mails for some time?

The newly implemented ToDo system is nice, however it does not inform me of new activity in an issue I am already assigned to. It might only help me keep track of all my mentions if I am checking all the tabs there regularly, as it appears others might be able to "close" my mentions (see gitlab-ce#13736).

Feature Request

Therefore I would like to suggest to color highlight all the activities in the activity stream one got an email for. This would allow one to get a quick overview of all the things that 'matter' without leaving the browser.

Implementation Notes

  • We already record emails sent (so we can have reply by email).
  • The activity stream is a succession of Events.
