Azure has a service called DevTest Labs, for easy management of development and testing labs. When using DevTest labs, you can (and will) link up "artifact repositories", git-repositories that contain definitions of the services you want in the lab. The current implementation supports only GitHub or Visual Studio Online, which is a pity. To us, it means that we need to use GitHub for this requirement.

From what I can tell, the use case is perfect for deployment keys, which would then support multiple git repository managers. There appears to be nothing that ties it to GitHub, really.

It would probably be helpful if GitLab, Inc reached out to the Azure team, let them know that you have customers asking for this integration, asked if they would consider supporting GitLab, and perhaps offered some assistance.
