gitlab.com: Share project with group yields error "No matches found"

Summary

With the current version of GitLab EE hosted at gitlab.com (as of 2016-11-02 17:00 UTC)
I've noticed that it is now impossible to share a project with a gitlab.com group.

Steps to reproduce

• Assuming one's login is USER and one owns a project PROJ:
  Go to https://gitlab.com/USER/PROJ/group_links
• Click on "Search for a group"
• Type anything in the textfield

Expected behavior

• List of existing groups should appear

Actual behavior

• I invariably get the error "No matches found"
