Notifications sent although disabled

Summary

I often get email notifications recently even though I explicitly disbled them.

Steps to reproduce

I am not 100% sure what triggers this. I have disabled global notifications, and on some projects I have them disabled explicitly again.

For some MRs, I still get email notifications. It seems to send mails for everything, comments, pushes, ... This can easily reach 100 mails per day.

I am not sure what the pattern is. It might be the fact that I am an approver there.

We have a self-hosted instance, which is private, so I cannot link to any examples.

What is the current bug behavior?

I receive many emails, corresponding with a high level of notification settings. The settings are on disabled, though.

What is the expected correct behavior?

I should not receive any emails.

I can ask our platform team for logs. It would be great if you can tell me what to look for though.
