Configure VSM

• Configure VSM at the group level.
• The workflow states shown are default available when you create a group.
• You can add more workflow states and move them around. You can change workflow state names.
• Cycle time statistics are shown already on this configuration page, which is thus also a dashboard page in itself.
• You can view additional statistics details with the button.
• You can also configure automations to transition issues between stages. For example, a default one is that when you create a merge request from an issue, it automatically moves into Development workflow state. We envision creating additional customized automatic transitions.
• This page shows statistics for the scoping of all issues in the group (including subgroups). To further narrow down by a specific subset, you would use value workflow issue boards to accommodate that. And so you can create a new workflow issue board or navigate to an existing one from this page.

Value workflow issue board

• These issue boards are the same as normal issue boards, with the exception that the lists are pre-defined, which is the workflow states of the group. So those are fixed and cannot be changed. When workflow states are changed in the group, they are automatically updated in any value workflow issue board of the group.
• So what you can customize is the scoping of the board. So you can change the saved board configuration. In the mockup, the issue board shows issues relevant to the Plan team.
• High-level statistics of cycle time are again shown here. But the difference from the group page is that these are calculated with respect to the board scoping (which reflects what a particular team cares about.)

Value workflow issue board analytics

• With one click, you can see additional detailed analytics.
• You can see how cycle times break down amongst the stages.
• You can see for a given stage, how the individual issues performed, and so at a glance, you can see the distribution. This allows you to zero in on bad offenders and quickly triage problems by navigating to the issue and investigating.
