fatal: unable to access '': Could not resolve host: gitlab.com

I have Ubuntu 20.04 and I used a local gitlab runner with docker executor, it was all working great and I was happy until it started giving me this error fatal: unable to access '': Could not resolve host: gitlab.com. I checked lots of issues where people posted solutions with DNS and firewall settings but nothing helped me. I don't think I have a firewall running actually. I even tried to completely reinstall docker but it also didn't help me. How can I have this fixed?
