Runner Wake on Lan
I would like to be able to have Gitlab wake up runners using the "Wake On Lan" technology. I see this as a flag that is associated with the runner in Gitlab. If Gitlab needs a runner and it is not responsive, etherwake (or equivalent) could be invoked to "revive" the runner machine. This would save substantial power and cooling for a Gitlab farm. Let's go "green".
Some people might be inclined to argue that this is irrelevant in the cloud computing era. Alas, I have data protection requirements and specialized hardware needs that require that I run my own servers. I don't have a large data center budget, so the Gitlab servers have to run on a relatively small cluster of machines in a converted office space. It is "green" to minimize the power consumption footprint of services.
