Blocking (but not deleting) the initial GitLab "root" user ...
Hello Friends:
For security reasons, I'd like to block from logging in the original root
user configured in my GitLab
installation. The reason is because it's a well-known user (and therefore a possible target).
Note: I have already created a separate account with Administrator
rights and 2FA requirement.
I don't want to delete the root
account in case doing so might cause unintended consequences. Additionally, if I get locked out of my alternate Administrator
account, I might be able to re-enable root
via the CLI. :)
Would this action be safe -- blocking the root
account while logged into the alternate Administrator
account? By the way, that root
account has no artifacts associated with it.
Thank you in advance! (and apologies if this has been answered before).
