Cert-Manager will stop working starting from November 1st 2019
Problem to solve
LetsEncrypt has informed that they,
plan to start blocking all traffic from cert-manager versions less than 0.8.0 (the current semver minor release), as of November 1.
GitLab managed apps currently installs 0.5.2
.
Proposal
- We should at least put a disclaimer message about this on the CertManager install section.
- Make CertManager installable above
0.8.0
. - Enable our users to upgrade to a higher version.
- Communicate our users that they should update this before the 1st of November.
Testing
TBD
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
- Installation of CertManager >
0.8.0
is possible before November 1st. - Upgrade of CertManager >
0.8.0
is possible before November 1st. - Users get disclaimer message at least from October 1st.
- Email was sent to all the users that have CertManager <
0.8.0
installed.
