Squashed merge commit does not close MR

When a MR pipeline fails, Gitlab gives the option to manually merge a MR. When you still prefer squashing all commits, you could also do that locally, for instance using the IntelliJ IDEA dialogs.

Problem

The commit that wil get pushed to master, does not mark the MR for that branch as merged.

Impact

  • locally squashed merges should also close the related MR - and then close the related issue from the description.
