Feature Request - The ability to install Gitlab with an easy to use binary file
Description
Currently, Gitlab (Self-Hosted) is difficult to install manually. A way of improving this is providing perspective users with a binary file to simple install the package on applicable platforms that meet minimum requirements.
-
Windows Binary file(s) -
Linux Binary file(s) -
MacOSX Binary file(s) -
The ability to patch versions that have been installed via Binaries without loosing data. -
A landing page for users to download the latest client (And archived versions) of Gitlab. -
Documentation for all applicable use cases/features and platforms.
Proposal
This issue was originally listed on the about.gitlab.com website as a missing feature. It should be available on all supported platforms with suitable binary types. These include:
- Linux
- MacOS
- Windows OS
There should also be an easy to use feature that can upgrade the install to a more recent version of Gitlab as and when needed.
All of these binaries should be available to download from the main Gitlab Website with a specific landing page for these downloads/platforms. Potentially also with an archive of older versions?
