Unexpected behavior in UX of adding labels to issues
Not sure whether this is a bug report or a feature proposal, but let me start by describing:
Current behavior
- in an issue, I want to add a label, so I go to the "Labels" box in the sidebar, and click on "Edit".
- I start typing the first letters of the label name that I am seeking, for example I start typing
t
,r
, to get totraining
. - Before I know it, I've apparently triggered keyboard shortcuts and am taken to some different page in GitLab.com... I quickly hit the back key and once again click "Edit", then click inside the box where you can type a label name, and things now work as expected.
Preferred behavior
- I'd prefer the label edit box to understand that if I clicked on Edit, it means I want to edit, and not require me to click in the box to essentially verify that indeed I want to edit...
Proposal
- Auto focus the input whenever the
Edit
button is hit. Currently this works when you first hit Edit. If you close the dropdown and hit Edit again, the field does not auto focus and it can trigger the key board shortcuts.
