[meta] Installation experience on Ubuntu
Description
Installing GitLab should be easy, fast and reliable.
That means that:
- Downloading the package is fast
- No configuration is needed until you want something custom (e.g. no artificial limits, signup is enabled, project access request is enabled, etc etc)
- Inevitable configuration is easy: HTTPS, incoming email, outgoing email, pages domains, container registry, LDAP integration, integration with external
- HA / backups are easy to set up and inspire confidence (e.g. what happens if a backup fails?)
Proposal
Write a report on the installation experience of GitLab that covers the scenarios above and create issues to improve where necessary.
@lbot what are things that customers often need help with? It'd be great if you could help point out things we should pay special attention to.
