Markdown templates, similar to Dockerfile templates
Description
Allow markdown templates, similar to Dockerfile
and .gitlab-ci.yml
templates, in the file editor
Proposal
I like the little dropdown that shows up when you create a file called Dockerfile
(and .gitlab-ci.yml
). It'd be nice to extend that to .md files as well, so you can create "standardized" README files across similar projects.
Right now at work I have a GitLab group called "Documentation", and don't want to copy & paste MD files from other repos into the new piece of documentation I write. I could just pick a template and fill in the blanks!

Documentation blurb
Markdown templates are templates usable in the GitLab file editor, usable in a similar fashion to the Dockerfile
and .gitlab-ci.yml
templates available in the file editor.
These templates allow users to quickly generate standardized markdown files for documentation, contribution guidelines and so forth.
To use these features, create a new file in a repo using the GitLab file editor. When you add ".md" to the end of the filename, a list of templates will appear to the right of this. Simply pick one to get started. Extra templates can be added by [insert adding instructions here]
or adding .md files to /path/to/markdown/templates
