Original description
The default project view is the README file. This feels like a great default for new users and when you are exploring new projects, and trying to understand what they are. However, if you become a regular with a project, this README view becomes less useful very quickly.
We do make it easy to change your default project view in settings https://gitlab.com/profile/preferences
. Because of the scope of GitLab, and the variety of people we cater to, the right project view for users differs greatly (and we are even looking to add more options: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/26878). However, many people may not know that this setting is possible. Is there a better way to encourage users to customize their default project view?
