Styling of Merge Request CI status widget
As of today, the CI status widget for merge requests (is that what you call it?) looks like this:
I think it looks a bit odd and is not an improvement compared to previous versions (8.12). Here is why:
- Sometimes, the pipeline ID is shown in blue, sometimes not.
- The pipeline ID is included. I still think this is useless (also see #22148 (moved)). The only real purpose it serves today is to provide a clickable target, IMHO. I don't consider a 7-digit ID (that - unlike the SHA - doesn't have further value) a useful thing to show in such prominent place.
- Now we have both the clickable pipeline ID (see 2.) and the "View Details" link. How should I know whether to click on one or the other? What is the rationale behind having two links for that? After trying it, I realize that they take you to different views, but why? Why does "view details" show you a list of all pipelines for that MR instead of showing the details of what is happening in the pipeline mentioned in the same UI element?
Suggestions for 8.13:
- Remove the pipeline ID from the CI widget for merge requests again.
- Change link target of "View Details" to the pipeline page (which is currently accessed by clicking on the ID).
