7.8.1 and search not allowing spaces

We just finished upgrading to 7.8.1 and the search capability seems to not be working like in the version we were previously on which was 7.3.2.

It appears that you cannot search for "Code" specifically if your search has a 'space' in it. Also, it is noticeably slow to do a search in the new 7.8.1 versus the older.

Is the search not allowing a 'space' for searching "Code" intentional?
