Determine timing of docs site updates if 22nd is a weekend
In this thread Kati noted we have until July 2022 to determine if docs site updates should be handled on weekends if the 22nd falls on a weekend:
I have zero documented evidence of this, but I'm pretty sure when I started I was told (or I read somewhere?) you can do the doc release on the next working day if the 22nd falls on a weekend. It's not that often that it does fall on a weekend, so for the occasions it does, maybe it's OK to postpone it a day or two.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year and early 2023, the next releases that are at awkward times are:
- Friday 22 July (Not ideal if you're based in the US, and likely to be the last person in the office.) ← will be @sselhorn
- Saturday 22 October ← writer TBD
- Sunday 22 January ← writer TBD
If I have it wrong and we do have a directive to ensure docs are released on the 22nd, then we definitely need an escalation path for weekend releases.
I'm creating this issue so @dianalogan and @susantacker can make the call, and update parts of the handbook / our release processes / internal expectations appropriately. I was unaware that the docs site release could wait until business hours, and would have been greatly relieved to have done so.
If it IS documented somewhere, we should make it clearer / easier to find.
