Username/Home directory with a git pattern - Not able to create gitaly.socket in correct path

I used a user called "gitl" which lead due to the search&replace pattern in the gitaly.socket path to the following error during gdk run :

3:33:25 gitaly.1 | 2017/04/20 23:33:25 configure unix listener: listen unix /home/gitl/gitlab/gitlab-development-kitl/gitlab/gitlab-development-kit/gitaly.socket: bind: no such file or directory
