Secure UX team strategy
Overview
Secure UX team is now 4 people and growing! Let’s start considering and executing a long term UX strategy.
Next steps
- Create a team strategy for a set time (ex. quarterly)
- Identify the objectives of the strategy and prioritize them
- Create issues to support the prioritized efforts and assign to the appropriate team members
Benefits
- Working as a team on a common purpose
- Reduce duplicative work and organize team efforts (one place to find issues supporting strategy)
- Shared awareness to our wider stage group, new teammates, and UX department
- Ability to plan more effectively
Proposal
Strategy objective: have an informed stance on Secure product design direction. Gain domain specific UX knowledge to empower us to better define problems, prioritize issues, and contribute to the wider team. With that in mind, here are some steps we could take:
- Baseline initiative audit and recommendations (in progress)
- Internal understanding: stakeholder interviews (in progress)
- Draft version of the Secure foundation's document (in progress)
- Do a heuristic evaluation on at least 3 competitors, based competitors the 3 user type is using
- Who are our customers? Customer interviews and internal direction
- Who are our users? User interviews
- What are our user’s workflows? Explore specific situational problems we are looking to solve now and in future iterations. Understand different types of workflows from existing, new, and/or non-users
- Partner with Product on proof of concepts to better understand where we want to go
Ideally, we set up the plan in one place with the corresponding supporting issues.
