Add UX direction and vision content to the Optimize direction page

Problem to solve:

We aren't always good at communicating the big picture around UX efforts at the group and section level. There are lots of advantages to getting better at this: letting users know what we're up to, sharing our work with Product Design candidates who want to learn what they would be working on, increasing designer alignment and elevating collaboration opportunities, checking alignment with Product, to name some.

Potential Solution (to pilot in this issue):

Add more UX perspective to the direction pages. Content could be things like: additional personal details, user needs/desired experience, UX themes for future improvements or focus areas, and how we're addressing the UX goals and challenges. Could include links to larger UX efforts of wider interest to the team, research projects, vision level/direction level designs, etc.

Approach:

  1. Read through the existing direction pages and find the list of features that in the roadmap
  2. Focus on why we want to build them and how they will impact our users
  3. Link each feature idea to an outcome, or impact we want to make on our users
  4. See where qualitative and quantitative information can be added to complement the linked outcomes

Learnings:

  • TBD...

ToDos

  • Finish category maturity scorecard
  • Use learnings and insights, in addition to the existing issues and designs, to build some content for this page (doesn't have to be a fully concepted UX direction, as that would take some time).
  • Create MR to update this page and collaborate with Optimize team to merge.
  • Update this issue with learnings about how it went and recommendations.
