Presentation templates in Figma

Purpose

Several UXers are taking advantage of Figma’s awesome capabilities for creating presentations. This issue will help determine the needs and preferences so that a Presentations project can potentially be created in Figma.

Questions

• Would a Presentations project only contain templates and resources, or should it also contain final presentations?
• What size should the slides be (1920×1080, or 1400×900, etc.)?
• How is this different that gDocs Slides?
• How/where might we document this as a resource?
• How rigid vs. freeform should the resulting presentations be?
• What is the brand’s role in the design (logo, color, etc.)?
• What types of assets/templates would be most helpful?

What is the benefit of using Figma presentations over Slides?

Not having to export assets. Staying in the same tool. Updating the design keeps the shared presentation updated automatically.

If the file was duplicated, yes, but the intent here is for UX managers and designers only.

I don’t think we should use that extension due to its access level with private GitLab files.

How is this different that gDocs Slides?

I think Google Slides are generally the default solution for presentations at GitLab because they are easily for anyone in the organization to access and fork them, even if they are not a designer.

The deciding factor here to use Figma, at least for me, is when you need to present one or multiple prototypes. Like this series of prototypes that @lvanc made in gitlab#208008 (closed):

• 1.1 - 1.2 Prototype
• 1.3 Prototype
• 1.4 Prototype

They don't even have to be clickable, I can see this being helpful to present a scrollable page, for example.

I can also imagine people using Figma to present user flows or diagrams where the audience might need to zoom in/out.

Going to close this. Rather than create official templates I think we can rely on Google Slides for anything formal, and allow Figma to be used as needed per some of the use cases mentioned.
