Error 500 when pushing to gitlab if my git username contains accentuated characters
So, the issue is the following :
when your git username (as defined by the command git config --global user.name
) contains accentuated characters, you are allowed to push your code to the Gitlab repository. There's no warning or error whatsoever in the CLI when doing that.
Now, browse to your gitlab.com repository, and you'll see that the commit data (last update / commits cells on the file browser) are not loading. If you try to click on your last commit or access the commits tabs, gitlab.com answers with an error 500.
Changing my git username on my local machine to remove accentuated characters and pushing new code to the repo does the following : commit data are still not loading, however, the last commit is accessible and working without any problem.
