Likes on lines while a PR (Merge request) is raised
Problem to solve
Increase the motivation of people who contribute to a project by helping them receive likes on some of the lines of code that they have contributed.
- Developers (who raise merge requests)
One of the main use-cases would be that the people reviewing pull requests will be able to easily mark some of the lines as best lines by clicking the like button. This idea came up as a Tweet that someone has posted for which Gitlab asked to raise a feature proposal.
When a user raises a merge request then the person who is reviewing it can currently comment on different lines in the source code of the repository. But in addition to that, the proposal is that they should be able to click a like button to like any of the lines in the raised merge request.
Permissions and Security
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
This feature will be successfully implemented when a reviewer of a merge request can just click like buttons on lines of code which are currently only available for comments.
