Mirroring repositories doesn't work: 2:Fetching remote upstream failed: fatal: could not read Password

We have received multiple reports related to Mirror repository functionality not working properly. Users can't configure a mirror using SSH but they can when they use https but it doesn't work.

When I tried to configure with SSH protocol the page displaied an error:

500

Whoops, something went wrong on our end.

When we try to configure with HTTPS using personal access tokens, the page displaied this error:

2:Fetching remote upstream failed: fatal: could not read Password for '[FILTERED]@github.com': No such device or address I even tried with this personal access tokens with all privileges.

I found another issue (#667 (closed)) on Gitlab.com which are similar.Screen_Shot_2018-12-26_at_9.28.49_AM
