Performance testing with GCP Filestore for HA
Background:
Customer has asked:
We are thinking of using GCP filestore tho. Have you had any experience with that as a shared file system for git? Supposed to be faster than EFS.
What questions are you trying to answer?
We recommend against using EFS for performance reasons however we could possibly recommend GCP Filestore as an alternative.
Are you looking to verify an existing hypothesis or uncover new issues you should be exploring?
What is the backstory of this project and how does it impact the approach?
What do you already know about the areas you are exploring?
GCP Filestore advertises 30,000 IOPS and 700mb/s transfer rate.
What does success look like at the end of the project?
Similar performance to NFS on EBS volumes would be a good benchmark at which point we could recommend GCP Filestore to customers.
