Emails on push service does not include commit details on first push, only branch creation
Summary
When enabled the resulting emails are different on initial branch creation. When using the command line you receive an email detailing that a new branch has been created but the is no commit information. From UI you receive two email - first that a new branch has been created, second the commit details.
The issue seems to that if the branch is created on the command line, then a number of commits are done before pushing, only the branch creation is notified in the email.
Steps to reproduce
- Create project *Enable 'Push on email' From the command line:
- clone project
- create a new branch
- checkout branch
- make a change, and commit this
- push change to GitLab
The email you receive shows branch creation only, no details about the commit.
Example Project
Self-hosted installation.
