please look at the reviewing the gitlab pages setup page

so today, I received an email saying that my site would now not be able to be seen due to it being disabled. this needed to be sorted via certificates & other such things. this was slightly annoying as I was just about to start a game dev stream & use my website as a bit of a point to go to, to help with business. ok, whatever. I decided to look at it after the stream.

now. on clicking on the link to see about fixing it, which is here https://gitlab.com/help/user/project/pages/getting_started_part_three.md. this page has left me think 'too much' on how to get things done.

now I will be completely honest. this page's quite hard to read on how to get things back up & running. really, it was quite hard. so, after going thru it several times. I 'think' I may have solved it. im actually not sure since its still showing 404. but have tried to follow things as well as I can from what the link has given me.

but really, this was super confusing to go thru. I think one reason is that information goes into each other. different tasks are intertwining & it actually makes it hard to concentrate on the specific task I want to do. which is having my lewislepton.com site back up. also with having https. im also using cloudflare for the https, which has been fine as well, & has had very minor fixes. but was a lot easier than the gitlab stuff.

im not sure whether what ive done will even work. but the certificate was fine that I filed & seem to be just getting the 404 page just now, which is what the setup page did say could & would happen for around 24 hours. but it was hard to try & feel like I got anywhere or even feel that anything I had done had even worked.

I love gitlab, use it everyday & love the service that has been given. im just a bit confused by what has been served up in terms of documentation & do feel that things could be clearer for other users in the future.

I will post a reply if my site has come back online, just so at least people do know

thank again for the help & service.
