Linking to readme section of project's homepage
I generally like having a project homepage with both files and the readme, but GitLab's header design is so tall, that the readme is not visible on most screens.
GitHub has similar problem and there I solve this by linking to https://yadayada/project#readme
, because GitHub's readme div has id="readme"
and this makes browsers scroll down to where the readme starts.
GitLab doesn't have such anchor, so I can't reliably link to the readme down the page. The closest I can do is to link to some <a name>
for a heading in the readme, but such link will break when I change the text. I also don't want to link to README.md file individually, since that isn't a proper homepage.
Could you make top of project page more compact, so that Readme is more likely to start above the fold?
Could you add a reliable id=readme
on the page, so that #readme
URLs work?
