Improving the inline issue and merge request mention status indicator

Problem
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/1369 implemented this feature with https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/9462
Now each issue and merge request mention has a status indicator written out at the end. This may be too obtrusive.. notable.
Proposal
This may be a something we have to get accustomed to, but i think its not a bad idea to look into improving the current situation, so its not as obtrusive.
This may also chime in at https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/29585 for showing the full status for example in the tooltip, while we do the always visible part in a truncated version for exampole
