Make it easier to edit lists
Description
Creating lists, regardless of bulleted, numbered or task lists, could be made somewhat more comfortable by adding some assistance features to the Gitlab textfields, e.g. by adding new list items when pressing return/enter until enter is pressed twice.
Proposal
Although markdown makes it easy to create lists, it's still cumbersome to type, especially if one wants to create a bunch of list items in a row.
Some editors (e.g. the editor component in Confluence) do make creation of lists easier by some kind of stateful assistance.
This is what I propose to add to Gitlab:
- When adding a list by the click on a button (and if possible even when starting it by typing) Gitlab editor components could go in to list mode.
- Pressing enter or return in list mode results in a new list item being inserted into the next line
- Pressing enter twice finishes list edit mode and instead inserts an empty line
Although this might seem like a small change (from the users point of view; since I'm not exactly sure what complexity it involves from a technical POV) I think that those little features make quiet some difference regarding the user experience. Personally, I love that feature, as it makes my life easier.
