Add option to disable special characters in URL (such as when using search)
We are facing an issue where our firewall is blocking a special character in the URL when executing a search query. When executing the search query, GitLab generates a URL to which the browser then navigates. This URL contains search?utf8=✓ which our firewall blocks because of the '✓'. I was wondering whether it’s possible to tell GitLab to encode URLs by default or just use "normal" characters instead of using special characters, because those are rejected.
It would be nice to see GitLab return “utf8=true” instead of “utf8=✓”. A configuration option to disable this behavior should be the solution. I looked through the source code and made a commit to give you guys an indication of where to look. URL: jellespoelders/gitlab-ce@9d0524b1
Thanks in advance.
