Rake backup compression options?

Description

I looked up the compression done by the rake, and the file is a big tarball file. Could we add an option to compress the backups?

Proposal

Compression may be slow, however it reduces the size of the backups consumed on the file system. It would be nice if the rake provided options to compress the backups.
