Wrong User Email Address Used
Environment
I have GitLab (gitlab-ce-8.7.0-ce.0.el7.x86_64.rpm) running on a virtual Red Hat (RHEL 7.2) machine.
Email is setup via an smtp relay
Description of the problem
In short, email notifications (for example, [Git][john.doe/myProject] Pushed new branch fooBranch) are being sent to an incorrect email address. Email should be sent to john.r.doe@mydomain.com but are being sent to john.doe@mydomain.com. John Doe initially set his email address incorrectly (john.doe to where email notifications are now being sent) but it looks like the project itself is retaining an email list rather than reading addresses when an email is created.
Background
-
John Doe logs in via LDAP but the email address associated with the LDAP entry is incorrect (I cannot get the LDAP corrected). Therefore, the Primary email address associated with the account is wrong.
-
John Doe initially created a secondary email address of john.doe@mydomain.com but this was incorrect as it should have had his middle initial.
-
John Doe deleted the wrong secondary email address and put in the correct email address of john.r.doe@mydomain.com. I verified that John Doe's notification address is set as this secondary email address.
-
Other users with the incorrect LDAP-provided email addresses have put in a secondary email addresses. Notification emails are successfully sent to these other users.
Attempted Resolution Steps
-
John Doe deleted the incorrect secondary email address and put in a correct entry.
-
GitLab was restarted.
Insight needed
I am having problems troubleshooting this problem because I am not seeing the logs to tell me what is happening.
-
Where is the log for mail that is sent? I am looking in /var/log/maillog but that is empty. I have looked in sidekiq.log
-
I note that on the Admin Area Background Jobs page there appears to be a Failed queue indicator that increments. Where is the log associated with this Failed queue?
