Issue boards stuck loading issues into lists / not allowing issues to be moved to lists

On Gitlab-ce omnibus on Centos 7 we are having issues with the Issue board not loading issues into lists and not allowing issues to be moved to the lists (seems related)

We are stuck with the pinwheel activity indicator in the lists (apart from backlog and done) which never ends. As per the screenshot below

Any advice on a resolution would be appreciated be it config/database or bug fix
