Iteration on bug triage and execution
The new process for addressing bugs does not seem to be working.
For 15.8, a total of 8 bugs were closed. However, these came from only three team members. And almost none of them (except for a small documentation edit) were the bugs that Sampath listed in the Geo 15.8 Outlook Issue.
For 15.9, it is not looking much better. Only 4 bugs have been closed. Again from only 3 geo team members and 1 more from some one else outside geo. Sampath had moved forward the same bugs that were not closed in 15.8 (plus two more) and once again they remain open.
My previous reminders to please assign yourself these issues and commit to completing them within the iteration have not had the expected response. From 15.9 only three of 7 bugs listed in the “bugs” and “misc” sections are assigned.
I would like to learn from all of you about why you think this is not working. I have some ideas, but I don’t want to bias the conversation. So please let me know your thoughts. This is important because removing bugs from the product improves its stability and over time this should reduce support requests, which in turn translates to more focus time for new capabilities.
I am open to suggestions on how we can improve this process, or if it is just a matter to have everyone recommit to the existing process.
