[Knowledge sharing] Setup pair programming sessions
New Year 2024! It's time to try something new.
In my opinion, one of our most-mentioned topics is knowledge sharing between teams and team members. We have awesome ongoing initiatives like Frontend Pairing or Backend Pairing. These initiatives are fantastic, and if you haven't checked them out yet, be sure to consult the Frontend or Backend calendar to join them.
I was thinking about doing the same for the Fulfillment team because we work on a private part of GitLab. That means we can't push sessions to the public but we can't miss such opportunity as Pair Programming. Pair programming sessions are a unique technique that could have a huge impact on our team. Firstly, they promote knowledge sharing and cross-training among team members, making the team more versatile and capable of handling various aspects of the system. Secondly, they facilitate real-time code reviews and immediate error detection, improving code quality and reducing the likelihood of critical bugs. Lastly, collaborative problem-solving in pair programming sessions can lead to more efficient and optimized code, resulting in better performance and reliability of CustomersDot.
This issue is about setting up pair programming session: who, what and when. Given the nature of our team, I propose that we establish two bi-weekly sessions where team members can join and collaborate on any task of their choice.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this idea. Thank you!
